Resilience is the ability to bounce back from hardship and trauma and to thrive in challenging settings. Even dedicated, successful and experienced workers can flag under long-term pressures and difficult environments. The behavioral health literature on resilience is extensive and dates back to the late 1970s. Yet only recently has this resilience knowledge been incorporated into training given to employees serving in high threat environments from those supporting them in humanitarian and charitable organizations back home. Our resilience training is informed by current scientific research and is presented in a way that engages employees and helps them to be more effective in their personal and work lives.
